Is This Really It?

My girl called this afternoon to say she was en route to purchase tickets for This Is It! No biggie, right. This would be true were it not for the fact she had seen the film twice in less than 24 hours. You heard right. This would be her third time viewing MJ's requiem.

The message. "The dude was a genius! Michael was in control of everything."

Cool. So, what I want to know, did he behave as though he was on drugs?

"No way! A drugged out person would not be able to move the way he was moving."

I don't know but I must wonder whether he is on that island where the rich, famous, and infamous
go to shed the burden of their own success.

How Was Your Day?

Are Mondays really as bad as we all think they are? John Beckett wrote a book a few years ago entitled Loving Monday. Well Beckett is a millionaire with his own company. He didn't have the most obnoxious creatures on the planet as a supervisor. Neither did Beckett have to do deal with a too long work week and a too short weekend. Or, a too long month and a too short paycheck. Do you think the way you feel about Mondays would change if you did not have to go a j.o.b. (a just over broke existence for most people) for nine hours?

Okay, this is the question: What would make you love Mondays?

Holler at me!

Thanks for your participation!

Thank you for making the Entertainment Survey a success! My objective was to find out if there is a market for what I simply call a fun night out. Your responses proved my suspicions true. For the non-hip/hop crowd there are not a lot of entertainment options. For this demographic--40 and above--dinner out is the primary entertainment. My philosophy is kill as many birds as possible with one stone. In the professional vernacular--optimize your efforts. Incorporate in that dinner your exercise, a de-stressor, and fun. Is that not what entertainment means--having fun!

For those of you who did not get to participate, click on the title Entertainment Survey (the Oct. 15 post).  Or, you may access both the survey and results from the links below.

Again, thank you for participating. Laugh until you cry. Dance like it is 1969. Love your neighbor as yourself. As much as possible live peaceably with all. And I promise life will be better.

See you on the dance floor!

Entertainment Survey

Have you ever been to a restaurant and they are playing some serious get up out of your seat and shake what your momma gave you music? But if you did, you would probably be shown back to your seat or worse yet, asked to leave. So you just sat there squirming as though you had an itch you dared not scratch.

We want to change all that. I say let's dance! We need to dance. My fondest memories were the times when I danced. As a child on Friday's -- you know when the eagle would fly. I would go with my parents to the local cafe. The fish sandwiches and hamburgers were wrapped in waxed paper. The jukebox playing the latest songs (told you I'm country). And we danced! And you know what, folk were po' but they were not stressed out.

All that was stated to ask for your help with the survey I am conducting. Please feel free to add comments.

Much obliged (country folk talk). And much love!

Welcome!

This blog is dedicated the lovers and makers of beautiful music. When people ask what is your favorite music, song, artist, and performer--they are asking a parent which child do you love best. You love each for who they are; each is beautiful and unique in its own way. So it is with the music.

This blog will focus on the Blues and R&B genre. Specifically to the men and women who have contributed to the music that helped shape our culture. We want to write about the music and the artists. We want to talk about how the music helped shape and define their personal lives then and now.

Everybody is curious as to what happen to . . . who sang . . . or sang with the . . . If you have a lead on where these individuals are or what they doing--by all means share. If they are still performing tell us where and hey, who knows, we just might show up for the gig.

Do you know an artist you would like to introduce to the rest of the world? Tell us about him/her/them. Perhaps you have a favorite song--new, old, published or original work. Talk about it.

In short, we want to give praise where praise is due. Let's encourage those in need of encouragement, enjoy the music and most definitely, keep the party going!

Peace and love!
